Los Angeles, CA, July 11, 2017 – More than 65 art galleries in Los Angeles and throughout Southern California will participate in Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, the Getty-led exploration of Latin American and Latino art that launches on September 15, 2017, and runs through January 2018. Complementing PST: LA/LA’s expansive roster of exhibitions, performances, and public programs at more than 70 museums and cultural institutions, participating galleries will present more than 90 group and solo exhibitions, artist-curated projects, and installations in Downtown Los Angeles, Culver City, Santa Monica, Hollywood, West Hollywood, and beyond. Throughout the four-month initiative, a vibrant cross-section of emerging and established galleries will join in celebrating Latin American and Latino artists, and will bring works to the region by both internationally-known artists who will be shown on the West Coast or in the United States for the first time and emerging talent from across Latin America and the U.S.

Los Angeles, January 19, 2017 – The Getty announced today that Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA will go outside the walls of museums when it opens in September 2017, with partner institutions presenting concerts, performances and events at the Hollywood Bowl, The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Walt Disney Concert Hall, Grand Park, and a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces throughout Los Angeles and the region. Made possible through grants from the Getty Foundation to the LA Phil, The Music Center and the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, the performances will expand the four-month-long celebration of Latin American and Latino art even beyond the wide circuit of its exhibitions at more than 70 institutions across Southern California.

New York, NY, December 2016 – After four years of planning supported by more than $16 million in grants from the Getty Foundation, Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA will begin on September 15, 2017 in more than seventy cultural institutions throughout Southern California. The unprecedented collaboration, in development since 2013, will offer the public hundreds of concurrent exhibitions, programs and events on the subject of Latin American and Latino art, presented for four months in institutions ranging from community-based cultural organizations and university art galleries to the region’s biggest museums. Participating organizations, many working with partners in Latin America, are spread across Southern California from Santa Barbara to San Diego, and from Los Angeles to Palm Springs.

The Getty Research Institute and Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA will preview the 2017 exhibition Video Art in Latin America at the Rubell Family Collection in Miami with an installation showcasing works by eight Brazilian artists created from the 1970s through today. Developed in conjunction with the Rubell Family Collection, the presentation will be on view during Art Basel in Miami Beach 2016 and coincides with the opening of the exhibitions New Shamans/Novos Xamãs: Brazilian Artists and High Anxiety: New Acquisitions.

The collaboration has now expanded to include another 24 museums and cultural centers. Los Angeles, CA, March 30, 2016 - The Getty Foundation today announced $8.45 million in exhibition grants to 43 Southern California organizations participating in Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, a region-wide exploration of Latin American and Latino art opening September 2017 and running through January 2018. Together with the $5.5 million in planning and research grants previously awarded to participating institutions, nearly $14 million in funding has been awarded since 2013.

LOS ANGELES - Arts organizations across Southern California are getting set for another ground-breaking Pacific Standard Time initiative. The Getty Foundation today announced $5 million in grants, given to arts institutions across Southern California for research and planning of an ambitious exploration of Latin American and Latino art called Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA. Scheduled to open in September 2017, the new collaboration will present 46 exhibitions and events from San Diego to Santa Barbara, with additional exhibitions and programs still to be confirmed.
